Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality support to individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them pursue personal goals, develop life skills, and improve their overall quality of life. This position requires strong communication skills, a commitment to person-centered care, and an understanding of the unique needs of individuals with varying abilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide continuous observation and monitoring to ensure client safety and well-being.
- Support individuals in community engagement, integration, and recreational activities.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment.
- Administer medications as prescribed and assist with individualized care plans.
- Document vital signs, observations, and changes in condition accurately and promptly.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and internal staff to deliver coordinated care.
- Engage clients in meaningful interactions that promote independence, social skills, and personal growth.
Qualifications & Skills
Ideal candidates should demonstrate the following abilities and credentials:
- First Aid and CPR certification (preferred).
- Experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or related care settings.
- Familiarity with supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Experience with behavior support strategies.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and strict adherence to confidentiality standards.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist individuals with mobility challenges.
- Experience providing homemaker/personal care services.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members.
- Background in social work, caregiving, or a related field is a plus.
